I saw a commencement address given by Steve Jobs at Stanford and he said that he ask himself this question every morning. If the answer is "no" for too many days in a row he stops doing it. Contemplate that for a moment.
Today is the anniversary of death of Steve Irwin. This was a man who woke up every morning and knew that what he was doing mattered and he enjoyed it. He died do what he enjoyed and I think if he had to do it over again he would, would you? If not, why?
Have you ever woke up and wondered what more you could do with your life? Have you ever wondered how you ended up working 9-5 M-F and longing for the weekends only to get that knot in your chest on Sunday afternoon dreading Monday morning?
If this reminds you of your life then you need to set aside some time to ask yourself some questions. To start out try these:
- If I could do anything in the world for a living what would it be and why?
- Why haven't you done that yet?
Write down all the reasons you can come up with and what you have are your beliefs that need to be changed for you to succeed. Our beliefs determine what we can and cannot achieve in our lives. You must change your beliefs before you can change your reality.
I'm not sure if or when I'm going to follow up on this post but until I do work on these questions. Write down the answers on an index card and carry them with you for a week, Look at them several times a day and imagine yourself actually achieving them. This is an integral part of it. Work on that for a week and I'll post later.
