"
What is your time worth?"
If you are a salaried employee, you probably answered with the amount of your annual salary.
If you are a contract employee, or a freelancer, you probably answered with your hourly rate.
But today I want you to think about the value of your time from a few different angles.
Over a year ago, I wrote an article called "
What's Your Life Worth?" that asks you to take a "big picture" view.
Next, I want you to take a micro view. How do you invest your time each day and what value do you get out of that time investment?
Today, I had to make a tough decision to leave an online networking platform that wasn't working for me. It was a tough decision because there are good people there who are discussing worthwhile topics. I didn't have any issue with the people but rather with the platform that was being used to network. It just didn't fit my online style. I agonized with the decision for a long time, but I ultimately decided that the value of my time was worth more.
It can be very tough to take a stand and defend the value of your time. Whether it is to your boss, your spouse, your kids or a group of people you've met online. But if you don't place a value on your time - who will?
